Description

Radiation Protection Gloves - Sterile, Lead-Free, Single-Use

IneoGuard radiation protection gloves combine a synthetic polyisoprene elastomer with a tungsten-based radiation-attenuating alloy, providing hand protection for clinicians performing fluoroscopy-guided procedures in interventional radiology, the cardiac catheterization laboratory, or the operating room. Available in two protection levels (0.05mm and 0.07mm Pb equivalent at 80 kVp), these gloves are designed to reduce scattered radiation exposure to operator hands during fluoroscopic procedures where proximity to the field is unavoidable.

Unlike conventional reusable radiation protection gloves, IneoGuard gloves are sterile and single-use, making them suitable for sterile surgical environments where infection control is non-negotiable. The gloves are latex-free, powder-free, and free of DPG and MBT. Each box contains 5 individually wrapped sterile pairs, with sizes 6 through 9 available in both models.

Key Features

  • Tungsten-based attenuation, lead-free: The radiation-attenuating material is a tungsten alloy embedded in synthetic polyisoprene, eliminating lead without sacrificing protection. Model 1 provides 44% attenuation at 80 kVp; Model 2 provides 54%.
  • Sterile, single-use construction: Each pair is individually packaged in a sterile sachet and sterilized by gamma irradiation, meeting the requirements of sterile surgical and interventional environments.
  • Latex-free and powder-free: Formulated from synthetic polyisoprene with no latex, no powder, and no products of animal or biological origin, reducing allergy and sensitivity risk across hospital settings.
  • Micro-textured finger surface: Fingertips feature micro-texturing for reliable grip during fluoroscopy-guided interventions, where tactile feedback and instrument control matter.
  • Two selectable protection levels: Model 1 (0.05mm Pb eq at 80 kVp) and Model 2 (0.07mm Pb eq at 80 kVp) allow selection based on procedure type and expected scattered radiation exposure.
  • Dual-certified Medical Device and PPE: Certified as a Medical Device Class IIa under EU MDR 2017/745, and as PPE Category III under EU Regulation 2016/425.
  • DPG- and MBT-free formulation: Free of diphenylguanidine and mercaptobenzothiazole, compounds of concern under California Proposition 65. No phthalates.
  • 3-year shelf life: Gloves remain valid for 3 years from production date when stored in a cool, dry location away from sunlight and ozone. Do not use if the sterile packaging is open or damaged.

Applications

  • Interventional radiology: Reduces scattered radiation dose to operator hands during fluoroscopy-guided embolization, drainage, and angioplasty procedures in the IR suite.
  • Cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology: Provides hand protection in the cath lab during catheterization, stenting, and EP mapping procedures where prolonged fluoroscopy is common.
  • Fluoroscopic orthopedic surgery: Suitable for C-arm-guided procedures such as fracture fixation and spinal instrumentation where the operator's hands are near the field.
  • Vascular surgery: For endovascular and hybrid procedures requiring operator hand protection from scattered X-ray exposure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between IneoGuard Model 1 and Model 2?
A: The two models differ in attenuation level. Model 1 provides 0.05mm lead equivalent at 80 kVp (44% attenuation); Model 2 provides 0.07mm lead equivalent (54% attenuation at 80 kVp). Both are available in sizes 6 through 9 and sold in boxes of 5 sterile pairs. Model 2 is suited for procedures involving higher or more sustained scattered radiation exposure.

Q: Are IneoGuard gloves safe to use near the primary X-ray beam?
A: No. IneoGuard gloves attenuate scattered and secondary radiation during fluoroscopy - they are not rated for use in or directly adjacent to the primary X-ray beam. Operator hands should be kept out of the primary field at all times, regardless of whether radiation protection gloves are worn.

Q: What procedures are IneoGuard gloves indicated for?
A: IneoGuard radiation attenuating surgical gloves are intended for fluoroscopy-guided interventional procedures where the operator's hands may be near scattered radiation: cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, vascular and endovascular surgery, and fluoroscopic orthopedic surgery.

Q: Are IneoGuard gloves latex-free and lead-free?
A: Yes. IneoGuard gloves contain no latex, no lead, and no powder. The protective element is a tungsten-based alloy in a synthetic polyisoprene elastomer. The formulation is also free of DPG, MBT, and phthalates, and contains no products of animal or biological origin.
