Description

Cordless Ultrasound Probe Cover - Latex-Free

The cordless ultrasound probe cover has been specially designed for point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) systems. Its latex-free material makes it ideal for patients or staff with latex allergies and allows it to be used in latex-free healthcare facilities. Each box brings 24 covers as well as sterile gel and elastic bands. In addition, the convenient 5" x 12" design closes with an adhesive tape for maximum security.

The increased use of POCUS in diagnostic imaging signifies a greater need for infection prevention and control. Clinicians can better protect their patients from healthcare-associated infections by using this probe cover during an examination. The cover creates a physical barrier between patient and probe, thus reducing the risk of contact transmission.

Using an ultrasound probe cover is particularly important in higher risk situations where the patient may be infected with a viral disease. By covering the POCUS probe, clinicians reduce the risk of cross-contamination and the likelihood of spreading disease from one patient to another via contact with the probe.

Since the cordless ultrasound probe cover has been uniquely designed for point-of-care ultrasound applications, clinicians can conveniently place it on the device. The cover’s tight and secure fit allow for the examination to be carried out efficiently. It is made of a durable polyethylene material designed to resist any fluids, soil, or possible contaminants that may present themselves during the examination. It provides an excellent barrier against healthcare-associated infections for POCUS probes.

It is important to note that the use of a probe cover does not replace the need for cleaning and disinfection. The cordless ultrasound probe cover provides an easy-to-use infection control solution and is most effective when used in tandem with proper cleaning and disinfection, such as hospital-grade disinfectants suitable for ultrasound. Upon finishing the procedure, clinicians should consult their facility’s infection control protocol and follow the directives for ultrasound cleaning and disinfection.

Clinicians should regularly consult Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines on disinfection and sterilization to ensure proper adherence. In addition, endocavity probes and general purpose probes should be protected with covers specifically designed for these applications.
